When Matt was a teenager he was a talented footballer and considered turning professional, but he had to give it up because of a back injury he had gotten. Instead he turned to acting.
Matt is a formal member of the National Youth Centre. He attended university of East Anglia to study Drama and Creative writing.
Matt is only 26 years old and he is the youngest actor to play the role of the old time lord in Doctor Who, the youngest had been peter davison he was 29. Also Matt is very talented and can play the guitar. He became an actor in 2003, and his first performance was Murder In The Cathedral.
