Jack is an English actor and is best known for playing the evil David Platt in the ITV show Coronation Street, he joined the show in April 2000, taking over the role of Thomas Ormson.
Jack was born in Pudsey, Leeds, West Yorkshire, but now he lives in Boothstown, Salford.
Jack has taken time out of his role as David Platt in Coronation Street to do theatre work such as the role of Riff in the production of west side story as part of the Yorkshire School Of Performing Arts. Jack has also appeared in Oliver at Bradfords Alhambra theatre. He has appeared in T.v Series such as Gosthunting with Coronation Street on the Isle Of Man.
In 2007 Jack won the Best Bad Boy Award at the Inside Soap Awards, and in 2008 he won the 'Best Villain' at the British Soaps Awards. Jack uses his middle name initial in his stage name as there is already a well known British Actor named Jack Shepherd. In Jack's personal life Jack has a girlfriend called Lauren Shippey they have been together since they were 14 years old, the pair of them starred in the series Mr and Mrs, which is presented by Philip Scholfield and FearneBritton. In 2008 they announced that they were expecting there first child, it wasn't planned but as far as we all known Jack was so happy about becoming a dad. 9 months later Beautiful Baby Nyla Rae Shepherd came along, she was born 13Th February 2009.

In the soap Coronation Street his actor David Platt as been through an awful lot but also David has put so many people through an awful lot. He is the son of Gail Platt- (Helen Worth) and Martin Platt- (Sean Wilson). Over the years especially after the Richard Hillman, Gail's Ex Husband kidnapped and tried to kill all of Gail's family including David, David had turned from a sweet innocent little boy to a young sociopath who loves to lie and manipulate and sch-eme. The change really began when David's father Martin decided to leave for Liverpool with his new girlfriend. Ever since his dad has left him he has just gone completely off the rails, in January 2008 David had his first proper relationship with Tina McIntyre, that calmed David down for a while cause he seemed to really care and love Tina, he'd do anything for her, David then discovered in an argument with his mother Gail that Tina was pregnant with his baby, but aborted the baby as she wasn't ready to have children at the age she was then, David went mental at this and pushed his mother down the stairs, then runs off leaving his mother to die, but later someone found her. David asks Tina to give him an alibi but Tina refuses and finishes him for what he has done, so David is furious and starts smashing up windows of cars and houses with a metal pole, attacking Ken Barlow and elbowing a police woman. Ever since this happened David and Tina have been in a on and off relationship, Until she got with Jason Grimshaw the fit builder just across the road, David's sister's Ex. David tried everything in his power to spilt them up, but has never gotten anywhere, then Tina's dad died, so everything went down hill for Tina at this point , so in the end Tina ended her relationship with Jason, but in the end David still didn't get his way and get Tina back, his best mate and former cell mate Graeme Proctor ending up getting with her and as you probably would learn by David by now he isn't going to be to pleased about this as Graeme knows that David loves Tina, but who knows what David is capable of doing now, better watch the next series of coronation street and see what David does next.
